About Me

LJ’s list of community involvement spans four decades. He has served this community both with his work and as a volunteer. During that time his passion for winter sports has been the driving force behind many of his efforts.

He came to Aspen in 1970, and in 1973 began 25 years of service on the ski patrol. During his tenure with the ski company he performed a vital community service as a member of the Avalanche Control team. During the 1980’s he created the North American Telemark skiing championships.

A strong advocate for safety, he helped to establish the Snowmass Village Ambulance Service early on in his time here. He is also a past President of the Snowmass Wildcat Fire Department.

To appreciate the results of LJ’s hard work, one need only visit the Aspen Recreation Center. LJ organized three committees that helped to create this community jewel: One to build the lap pool, one to build the leisure pool and one that raised $8 million from public and private entities to build the Lewis Ice Arena. In December 1999, the Mayor and Town Council of Aspen presented LJ with the annual award for “Citizen Volunteer of the Year” in recognition of a job well done.

LJ is currently the Vice Chair for the City of Aspen Planning and Zoning Commission.

LJ received his real estate license in 1987 and has been working full time in this industry since 1997. He also has several rental properties of his own for first hand experience in dealing with property management.

He currently has his own independent real estate brokerage "LJ Erspamer Distinctive Real Estate".
